From the author of Pregnancy Sucks, the newest book from Joanne Kimes, Christmas Sucks: What to Do When Fruitcake, Family, and Finding the Perfect Gift Make You Miserable, is just in time for chaos of the holidays. This book is one of the only I’ve read that discusses the downside of the holiday in such a funny way. I was particularly fond of “Smelly Claus, Smelly Claus” section.
However, my favorite part was the “How to Save Money During the Holiday’s” section. Some easy suggestions like shopping year round, taking advantage of internet savings, using the 800 number through frucall.com to get comparable prices while shopping, and many more were written in a practical and hilarious way.
Kimes offers other practical suggestions on how to survive the holiday while keeping your sanity throughout the book such as where to store your stuff, tips & hints for traveling with kids, and low maintenance meals. You can learn more about Joanne Kimes at her website sucksandthecity.com.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who gets overstressed at the holidays – which is most of us. It will give you many laughs while giving tips to make the holiday less stressful. I don’t recommend it for the perfect Martha Stewart/Bree VanDeCamp types, you may not find it as funny…ha ha ha! At only $8.96 (Amazon.com), this book would also make a perfect holiday gift for your fellow holiday-stressed friends.

What stresses me out about the holidays is the pressure to shop, shop, shop.
This would make such a great gift for my husband. We have only been married for a few years and each year is a nightmare trying to fit in everyone’s family (none in the same city!).

What stresses me out is trying for the Martha Stewart Christmas without the Martha budget.
