We recently did an informal taste test at our house with the new Kellogg’s Froot Loops and Apple Jacks with Fiber. We compared the test of the cereals with fiber to the regular ones. Our household didn’t notice the difference! Apple Jacks has always been and still is one of my personal favorites.
Which is good, because according to a recent study, 9 0ut of 10 kids lack enough fiber in their diet. Knowing this information, Kellogg’s decided to help moms and dads out by adding a boost of fiber to two of kids’ favorite cereals - Froot Loops and Apple Jacks. These cereals now have 3 grams of fiber per serving and are available at stores.
In addition to a boost of fiber, these cereals now include whole-grain corn flour, whole grain oat flour, oat fiber, and soluble corn fiber. Kellogg’s plans to expand these ingredients and fiber boost to more cereals throughout the coming year.
Want to learn more about nutrition? Kellogg’s has a wealth of information on their Kellogg’s Nutrition site.
What do you think? Have you tried Kellogg’s added fiber cereals yet?
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Kellogg’s and received boxes of Froot Loops and Apple Jacks and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

i see, so they bought you. sorry, but anyone who has even one tastebud left in their head would admit that the new fiber versions are horrible, just horrible. they should have left good enough alone and let people give their kids raisin bran if they want to give em fiber. or offer a fiber version of apple jacks along with the original. i won't be buying them anymore.
Obviously we have different taste buds than you. My family couldn't tell the difference. Maybe if I did a side by side comparison they might have but without telling them, they didn't complain.
I assure you that I wasn't bought by the small amount I was compensated.
Sorry that you didn't enjoy them.
Lady I don’t know you but you can not be taken serious when you say ther is no difference. There is such a big difference you don’t even have to add milk to see or taste it, the fiber version is horrible even to the point of disgusting and I am a die hard FL and AH lover….not anymore, they could not even pay me to eat that mess, yuck
Completely agree! Well, at least for Pops. Haven't had the new Froot Loops or Apple Jacks and probably don't plan on it.
I opened up a fresh box of Pops (without paying ANY attention to the box) yesterday, had half a bowl and then dumped out the rest due to the taste. I figured I had a bad batch or something along those lines. I gave them another go today (as I was extremely hungry and suffer from Celiac disease, so Pops are one of the few cereals I can eat) and noticed the taste yet again.
I immediately grabbed the box and saw that it now contained Fiber, yet was assured that it was the same great taste. When companies make this claim, more often than not I find that their products do in fact, taste different. That's DEFINITELY the case here.
At bargainbriana; “Obviously we have different taste buds than you.”
I think that's an accurate assumption, perhaps you have less sensitive taste bud or you're not a supertaster?
I thought they tasted like cardboard from the first bite even after not having original formula FL in moths
I refuse to buy kellogg's apple jacks now because for us that grew up on apple jacks as a child can taste the difference. It does not taste good at all. Of course kids right now couldn't tell the difference because they didn't grow up their entire life eating it. If any one else feel the same as me there is a cereal by SPARTAN called Apple Rolls that taste just like the old apple jacks and that's what I buy now.
I think that Applejacks taste horrible now. The reason kelloggs changed the formula is probably to manufacture the cereal with much cheaper, lesser quality ingredients.
My wife and I both loved Apple Jacks all our lives, then one day it suddenly tasted like cardboard. We could care less why they taste different now. We’re just unhappy that now we’ve had to find a new “favorite” cereal to eat. Our youngest son is a “cereal-holic” and regularly eats a bowl or two as a snack in-between meals every day because of his high metabolism. He’s no dummy either and instantly rejected them as well. If they ever decide to return Apple Jacks to its original formula then I know of one family who would be quite happy.
I Agree. The new apple jacks taste horrible. They were my favorite as a kid, and I occasionally eat it for fun. I used to really look forward to that occasional box more than any high end adult dessert. Chalk it up to embracing your childhood tastes from time to time. This new fiber stuff is horrible!!!
If you want fiber, eat your Wheaties. You should not be getting your healthy intake from sugar cereals!! What is next, high fiber candy?
Corn Pops are fine. They taste basically the same as they originally tasted, but the Apple Jacks are absolutely DISGUSTING now, and get soggy super-fast. I threw out a gigantic family-size box of them four days ago. GROSS.
General Mills’ Lucky Charms are still the same, thank god. As delicious as always.
I don’t know who this lady is trying to fool with her little, they taste the same, story but I agree with everyone who says they taste like cardboard. Yuck I didn’t think they would mess up the two bestt tasting cereals they sold but whoever came up with this idea should be fired. And the original FL and aj should be brought back so we the consumer can have a choice, period.
I think the reviewer should be cut some slack personally. I just don’t think she (and other younger mom reviewers I’ve seen) grew up with these cereals like those of us did in the 70s and 80s. These modern reformulations are disgusting to those of us who know . The taste is like the cereal went stale. They dissolve in your mouth like they are powdery instead of the denser texture of a multigrain corn/oat cereal with some bite. I am not fooled by Kellogg’s. There was more to the reformulation than just adding fiber. They also changed to cheaper ingredients about which they said nothing. Some of the generic brands now taste closer to the original than the actual product. That’s what I’ll be buying because these newly reformed Kellogg cereals are just nasty.
I agree with George about the original reviewer. She just stated her observation, which was obviously based on her own personal experience. Having grown up eating real Apple Jacks, I like a bowl now and then as a sort of nostalgic desert. But without even being aware of the reformulation, I tasted some over the past couple of days and immediately noticed something very wrong. My wife also noted the horrible taste, and now I guess we know why. I believe Kellog’s has simply bowed to the politically correct notion that all food should be nutritionally balanced and healthy. But many of us feel food should simply be food, and that presumably intelligent adults should should make intelligent choices regarding the portion of any particular food we consume, instead of the entire population having our choices dictated by extremists.
Fool me once, Kellog’s, but now I’ll be looking elsewhere for my cereals and watching any other products you offer with suspicion.
