Thanks to Meijer, I had the opportunity to try a few of the Ecostore No nasty* chemicals products, which will be launching at Meijer on February 22, 2009. I’m excited about this line because it will be affordable. Whereas, you usually have to pay top dollar to get the environmental/less chemical products, the Ecostore line is afforable starting at $4.39 and up.

So the laundry detergent was put to the test. Did you hear me say the test? Really, the ultimate test here. Because the weekend I used this, our two year old had a stomach virus. I won’t go into the nasty details. Needless to say, I was a little concerned about a product without any synthetic chemicals not getting the job done and leaving a lingering smell. I was very happy when the clothes came out of the dryer with a light, pleasant fragrance. Nothing lingering around there without even having to add fabric softener.

Our skin is our largest organ.  Clothes are in contact with our skin 24 hours a day. Ecostore uses plant based surfactants, simple mineral salts, and essential plant oils to eliminate harmful synthetic chemicals being absorbed into your body. What I find cool about the Ecostore laundry detergent it is so concentrated you only use 1-3 Tablespoon. The bottle is just about the size of large shampoo container so it fits in my washing machine “drawer” quite nicely. This also reduces packagaing.

Last week I was able to get the Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber for next to nothing at Walgreens. I tried it tonight on the kid’s bath tub. I don’t know how to describe how nasty it was but let’s just say that it probably gets cleaned once a month or so and my kids get dirty. There was so much soap scum built up that I’ve just not been able to get off even with a strong cleaner such as the Works. First I just rinsed the tub with water then I started using the Action Scrubber. So easy, the soap scum and dirt just wiped right off. It was so easy and took me less than 5 minutes to get the bath tub spotless. I can’t wait to try it on our shower! This product is everything that it claims to be!
