I have fond memories of Sesame Street as a child and I’m happy my littlest children get to enjoy these adventures in the present!

Animal Planet recently released a new DVD called Lions, which travels to various locations with each one telling a different story about the “King of Beasts.” Spanning across Africa, the DVD includes four shows in one DVD including:

This story will tell of the lions who have gone “rogue.” They’ve changed their normal hunting behaviors and started targeting humans as food source. This will take you into the Kruger National Park, where they try to retrain the lions to fear humans once again.

Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death, is a beautifully animated story about someone looking for a fast way to earn dough. Wallace & Gromit armed with a batch of ovens, an army of robotic kneading arms, and an old fashioned windfall, they start “Top Bun,” a new bread baking business. The business takes off quickly and Wallace falls in love with a bread industry icon, Piella Bakewell.

Then bakers suddenly start disappearing. Gromit then realizes his “master” is in danger. An adventure to solve a mystery becomes a Matter of Loaf and Death!

While the movie states it is 87 minutes long, I think this is including the extra features as the main show is only around 30 minutes. Overall, I think it is a movie that will enjoy!

The newest DVD released from Baby Einstein Company, World Animal Adventure, brings exotic animals from all over the world home to babies. While my children are not babies, the youngest is just three years old, they were still able to enjoy World Animal Adventures. Kids love animals and adventure.

In World Animal Adventures, your child will meet dozens of exotic animals including Asian pandas, Australian kangaroos, and Arctic snow monkeys all in their natural habitats. Plus, your child may be inspired to dance with the songs inspired by faraway lands or maybe even sing along! You can also watch just the segments of the puppet show, which is nice if your child loves this portion of the DVD.

My children’s favorite part of the movie was the monkeys with their mommies. I love that these videos are educational as well as fun. They are educational in a way that the children don’t even know! Strawberry Shortcake brings back fond childhood memories for me. You see, I was a child in the 80s when Strawberry Shortcake was at her peak. Shhh…don’t tell but I had Strawberry Shortcake wall paper and sheets. So bringing back this retro lovable doll is a wonderful welcome in my household.

My youngest daughter was so excited to open the package which contained the DVD, Strawberry Shortcake: The Sky’s the Limit. She was excited because she has that yellow haired girl and ran upstairs to get her. See, mom, I have that girl. At the Blogher conference this summer, I attended one of the “Mommy” panels, which was sponsored by Strawberry Shortcake and we received little gift packs that included two Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

Eli, who is five, was not thrilled. However, once we started playing the DVD, he came out with quite a funny comment. It was funny especially after his complaining about having to watch what he considers a “girl” show. I could tell he was trying to find something positive because his little sister was so excited. You see, she watches all of the alien creature shows with him so it was her turn.

“They are really good singers,” Eli told us matter of factly almost surprised with himself.  So this is what he came up with up in the opening act that could find that he liked about the show. I’m proud that he found something positive to share with us.

Now for Sofia, this is the greatest movie ever. As a mom and former original Strawberry Shortcake lover, I have to agree. This movie teaches valuable lessons about having good friends and how if you work together, “berry magical” things can happen!

Strawberry Shortcake: The Sky’s the Limit movie is 72 minutes long and recommended for ages 2 – 7.  Includes Music Video” Cafe Cabaret” Sing Along and DVD-Rom printable coloring pages.

The animal planet has put together an excellent movie, Animal Armageddon, Target: Earth, recently released DVD that puts an interesting twist on educational. Prehistoric animals are brought back to life with this intriguing mini-series. Great to watch at home or would be a great addition to any teacher’s lesson plans on prehistoric animals.

Cutting edge technology and research keep a child’s interest while providing the latest scientific theories and CGI technology. This is not your normal boring learning DVD. Animal Armageddon, Target: Earth outlines the impact nature’s disasters such as deadly cosmic gamma rays, volcanic explosions, tsunamis, earthquakes, and gigantic asteroid have had on the earth’s creatures over the last 600 million years. Most of the animals such as the giant straight shelled nautiloid to the T-Rex are now extinct.

I really didn’t think this would hold my kid’s attention, even the young ones, but they were very amazed while watching it and requested to keep watching it the next day! They are just memerized and amazed a the amazing pictures during the series!

The big purple dinosaur has been around for what seems like forever. However, he is still entertaining and teaching additional generations of children. We recently had the opportunity to view Barney: Jungle Friends, which will be available for purchase on September 15.

The biggest debate. Is Barney a girl or a boy? My five year old son says he is a boy because he sounds like a boy. My three year old counters with but it is purple – “purple is a girl color.”

Barney: Jungle Friends is a musical jungle adventure is bound to get your child’s attention like it did my little ones. Barney, BJ and Baby Bop laugh, dance, and sing through an enchanted rainforest (is there any other kind?), while learning about all of the amazing plants, animals, and insects in the rainforest.

Barney: Jungle Friends is sure to entertain your child and leave a few memorable tunes in the parent’s head too!

Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails movie was released on September 8th. In this movie, you finally get to hear the individual voices of Thomas, Percy, James, Gordon, which is very exciting for Thomas the Train lovers.

This is a story of friendship, determination, and teamwork. Thomas discovers an abandoned and broken down engine named Hiro, who is from a far away land. Thomas enlists help from his friends, including two new friends Victor and Kevin. The engine friends work together to help save their new friend from being scrapped.

If your child is a Thomas the Train lover, they will love this movie!

60 minutes long, Rated “G”, recommended ages 2-5.
