Do you watch Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel? You know the show where they take a common myth to “bust.” I’ve watched it a few times and it is always interesting and educational! It is also the Discovery Channel’s number one series!

They have taken the show and made these fun and educational kits like the  Mythbusters Weird World of Water kit made by Elmers. This kit allows your child to discover water mysteries in a hands on format. While on the surface, water may seem plain to a child, there is so much to teach them about water – it freezes, boils, and turns into a gas.

My little brother is the experimenter in my family. He is ten years old and loves to do his own experiments. A kit like this would be a great gift idea for a child like him so they can do their experiments in a more controlled environment!

We were sent this kit from Team Mom and the kids were so excited to test it out. While, we didn’t get to try out the rocket portion, the rest of the experiments have such an educational value while still being fun for kids. I’m all for any activity that can makes learning exciting especially about science!

The animal planet has put together an excellent movie, Animal Armageddon, Target: Earth, recently released DVD that puts an interesting twist on educational. Prehistoric animals are brought back to life with this intriguing mini-series. Great to watch at home or would be a great addition to any teacher’s lesson plans on prehistoric animals.

Cutting edge technology and research keep a child’s interest while providing the latest scientific theories and CGI technology. This is not your normal boring learning DVD. Animal Armageddon, Target: Earth outlines the impact nature’s disasters such as deadly cosmic gamma rays, volcanic explosions, tsunamis, earthquakes, and gigantic asteroid have had on the earth’s creatures over the last 600 million years. I really didn’t think this would hold my kid’s attention, even the young ones, but they were very amazed while watching it and requested to keep watching it the next day! They are just memerized and amazed a the amazing pictures during the series!

We were given the opportunity to try Piano for Preschoolers this month. Since my older daughter was given a keyboard a few years back I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce my younger kids to music. I loved playing the piano as a child and hope my child will as well.

The system is a great introduction to the very basics and gives children the confidence to encourage them to continue. It is fun and easy and requires no musical background on behalf of the parents. Even though I used to play as a child, I’ve forgotten many simple things so it was easy for me to help them.

It is so simple to start, you place a color strip on your piano or keyboard and your child matches up the colored notes on the page to the colors on the keyboard. The songs are all familiar songs like my almost three year old’s favorite – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

It is also economical. Piano lessons from a professional are expensive and time consuming. The Piano for Preschooler’s system starts at just $39.95. As I was looking on their site, I’m excited about the Holiday book for $14.95. Holiday songs are my favorite. This would also be a good music program for people who home school their children or just want some activities to keep their little minds developing.
