Do you watch Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel? You know the show where they take a common myth to “bust.” I’ve watched it a few times and it is always interesting and educational! It is also the Discovery Channel’s number one series!

They have taken the show and made these fun and educational kits like the  Mythbusters Weird World of Water kit made by Elmers. This kit allows your child to discover water mysteries in a hands on format. While on the surface, water may seem plain to a child, there is so much to teach them about water – it freezes, boils, and turns into a gas.

My little brother is the experimenter in my family. He is ten years old and loves to do his own experiments. A kit like this would be a great gift idea for a child like him so they can do their experiments in a more controlled environment!

We were sent this kit from Team Mom and the kids were so excited to test it out. While, we didn’t get to try out the rocket portion, the rest of the experiments have such an educational value while still being fun for kids. I’m all for any activity that can makes learning exciting especially about science!

As part of a My Blog Spark, we received two fun Elefun & Friends games by Hasbro to test out! Both games were a hit – one literally!

Giraffalaff Limbo is a new version of classic Limbo. Spin the dial to see which limbo style you will have to conquer: classic limbo, crab walk, crawl, giraffe walk, bend forward, or backward. The game has built in sound which will encourage your preschooler to try not to bump into the Giraffalaff. If he’s knocked over, though, he will roll on the floor in laughter. The player that passes at the lowest level wins.

My two youngest kids didn’t really want to play by the official rules. They were find just spinning the dial and then trying to get under it, which was fun in itself. This is a fun game, which will give your child activity as well as laughter! Plus, it works on the large motor skills

The only drawback to this game is it contains pieces which my boys thought would be fun to use as swords instead of how they were intended. Hence, the big “hit” comment!

The next game, Scatterpillar Scramble, utilizes your child’s fine motor skills and was named the 2009 Preschool Game of the Year by Creative Child Magazine.

In Scatterpillar Scramble, children balance marbles in the hands of a wiggly caterpillar. The music is fun and upbeat and this is a fast paced game. Each player has to try to securely place all 8 marbles in the Scatterpillar’s hands to win! It really does wiggly around and there doesn’t seem to be any way to adjust that.

So again, my kids kind of created their own game. Since our youngest is only three years old, she had some trouble using the tongs to put the marbles on the wiggly scatterpillar, so we let her just use her hands!

As you can see from this picture, my youngest daughter was very excited about playing with the Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery from Jakks Pacific Toys. I was gone while my oldest daughter (11) helped the littlest one (3), bake the cake!

The girls had a blast making their cake and I was a little jealous I wasn’t home to help! If your daughter or son, loves to bake or make crafts, this is a great gift. Before I left for BlogHer last month, Mom Select sent over a new playset for my kids to enjoy while I was gone called Zhu Zhu Pets. Basically, Zhu Zhu Pets is a hamster playset without having a real hamster to deal with. It was an instant hit with all of my kids. To hear my oldest daughter, who is eleven years old, giggle about a t0y, made me giggle.

Zhu Zhu Pets is a set of interconnecting play sets. You can add on more sets as you build your hamster play ground. Once you connect your sets, you simple turn on your hamster and let him go or “let him be” as my daughter says. The kids have named our hamster “Bugsy.”

This is the Ben 10 Creation Chamber. I had no clue what this toy was. Of course, the boys knew exactly what it was, how to use, and had been wanting it since they saw it on a commercial. So they were thrilled when we received this to try it out!

Your kids can create their own alien creations with the Creation Chamber. With the choice of five body parts and placing them in the alien chamber. Then you twist the knob and a uniquely created alien creature is created. After playing awhile, the boys even let me pick body parts – the head, legs, arms, body.
